It's Showtime!

It was Jane's first recital thanks to her diligent "Aunt Mo-Mo" who flat out enrolled her behind my back! I was not up for it and Amanda insisted that it was important-she was right. This was by far one of my favorite things I have ever done with Jane. A week of putting on clown make-up, sitting on my bathroom counter-making her hair as tight as I could get it, and getting her costume just perfect. It was a week full of bobby-pins, hair spray, eye-liner and pink clothes!! Jane soaked it all up and was the perfect candidate for this stressful week which was all about her! It was such a fun experience to watch Jane step out of her element and feel like a princess on stage. She had two costumes, a bunny which was the ballet number. Hopping Bunnies are we!! And an elephant, da-na-na-na-na-na-na. Faith, AKA Mrs. Frellington stole the show with this number. It was a tap number and she thought it was important to stomp throughout the performance and make mean faces. I was so proud of our little girls! Grace, Faith & Jane were amazing. It is so fun to see them together. Even though Jane doesn't have any real sisters right now, they truly are! Amanda and I got to be back-stage Moms. I have decided that Amanda has turned into a stage Mom over the years! This is serious business. Jane called it the "Macital" all week, and is still having flashbacks.
Jane, you were amazing. I feel blessed everday to be in your presence. I love every minute I have with you, and was so proud of you for getting up there and putting on a show! This was a definite highlight of my year!

Happy Birthday Camille!

Recently it was one of my best friend Camille's Birthday. We all went out to dinner at BJ's to celebrate. Laura & Camille are two of my favorite people on this planet. Before we bought a house last year, I was dead set on moving to Aliso or Ladera partly just to be by them! We are not that far away but I don't get to see them nearly as much as I would like. They are amazing, and two of closest friends for life!

Park in the Summertime!

Chelsea and I went to the park last week. We decided to switch it up and try Marblehead Park. The kids loved the tire-swing. Our kids are the exact same ages and it's always fun to be together. My favorite Harry story happened a year ago at a different park. Jane & Harry were sliding down these side-by-side slides. A kid twice their size came up to the slides and took over. Harry was 2 at the time and said to the kid, "hey, we were sliding down that." (The keyword being WE, not I.) The kid or course ignored him and proceeded to play. So Harry realized he had to get a little more stern and said it again, "HEY-WE WERE SLIDING DOWN THAT." The kid quickly left the slide and Jane & Harry resumed their fun! I love that Harry can hold his own even at age 2!! From that moment on I knew that Harry would not only stand up for himself but stand up for my shy little Jane as well no matter how big or old the kids in the future will be!

Preschool has Ended

Jane has officially finished her first year of preschool last week. I couldn't have asked for a better year. She had the most amazing teacher, Sister Douglas-whom she often called "Mr. Douglas." She loved going everytime and had a wonderful experience. She knows the alphabet, numbers, shapes & colors much better now! We were sad to see the year end. There were 6 kids in her class, Tessa, Taylin, Colsen, Daniel & Rastin.

My name's Garrick Shupe, do you know me?

This one's for you Gary! I love Gary & Chelsea. (Gary is my nickname for Garrick.) I always tell Chelsea that I'm so lucky to be her friend! We have so much fun with them. It doesn't matter what we do-park, pizza, beach, swimming, or just watching a movie. We love you guys!

arizona girls get-away

Amanda was having issues fitting everything in her suitcase after our shopping excursion!
the creme-brulee i ordered was amazing. sometimes i think that i love food a little too much!
this last weekend my mom decided that we all needed a break from life. so she got some airplane tickets to arizona and found a really sweet hotel/spa. it was the first time i left henry, so i was a bit apprehensive. i'm glad i went thought because it was a weekend of peace. we ate, we slept, we ate, we got hot stone massages, we ate, we played cards, we shopped, we ate, we slept, we ate, we shopped, and then we got back on the airplane to face reality. thank you mom for a much needed get away. i wouldn't have wanted to go with anybody else but my five favorite women and the nursing baby, hank. even though we may show each other our true colors, we still continue to laugh with each other & love each other. you guys are the best!

Grandma Jeri's in Town!

Last week Grandma Jeri came into town. The kids had a blast spending time with her. We did many fun things including the park, the beach, and Disneyland! The kids got to see their Aunts Casey & Whitney, and cousin Quinn! Jane always looks forward to seeing her Grandma Jeri. They are always on the ground together playing with something. It was the highlight of her month!
